Description

Saprobic on petiole of Brahea armata (Arecaceae). Sexual morph: Stromata 6602155 μm long, 285860 μm wide ( = 1430 × 500 μm, n = 11), with well-developed interior, solitary to gregarious, erumpent in the bark, black, fusiform in shape, pustulate, 12-ascomata. Ascomata (excluding necks) 70300 μm high, 90260 μm diam. ( = 181 × 210 μm, n = 20), immersed in the stroma, sub globose to irregular, ostioles individual, with a short neck. Ostiolar canal 110180 μm high, 80140 μm diam. ( = 140 × 110 μm, n = 20), cylindrical, sulcate, with periphyses. Peridium 1035 μm wide ( = 22 μm, n = 30), composed of two layers, outer layer of brown, thin-walled cells, arranged in textura angularis, inner layer of hyaline, thick-walled cells of textura angularis. Hamathecium composed of 25 μm wide ( = 3 μm, n = 30), filiform, longer than asci, septate, hyaline paraphyses. Asci (including stalks), spore-bearing part (55–)6490(−105) ×(12–)1316(−18) μm ( = 80 × 15 μm, n = 50), apically rounded, with J- apical ring, apex-bearing part 24(−6) μm long ( = 3, n = 35), polysporous, unitunicate, clavate, with moderately short stalks, stalk-bearing part 2436 μm long ( = 35 μm, n = 20). Ascospores (5–)610(−13) × 12.5 μm ( = 7 × 2 μm, n = 130), overlapping, yellowish to brown, ellipsoidal to cylindrical or elongate-allantoid, aseptate, smooth-walled. Asexual morph: Undetermined.

Culture conditions: Ascospores germinated on MEA within 24 hours, germ tube produced from end cell. Colonies on MEA smooth, white, dense towards the edge, margin diffuse.
