Description

Saprobic on dead petiole of Livistona chinensis. Sexual morph Undetermined. Asexual morph Hyphomycetous. Colonies on natural substrate effuse or confluent, visible as black powdery, superficial mass on host substrate, flattened, light brown, with a membranous base, composed of pseudoparenchymatous cells of textura angularis. Mycelium immersed, composed of septate, pale brown, branched hyphae. Conidiophores 30–35 × 2–3 μm (x̅ = 34 × 3 μm, n = 20), macronematous or semi-macronematous, mononematous, prostrate, usually short, cylindrical, septate, branched or unbranched, pale brown, smooth, thick-walled. Conidiogenous cells 10–12 × 2.9–3 (x̅ = 11.5 × 3 μm, n = 20), holoblastic, mono- to polyblastic, integrated, terminal or intercalary, brown, smooth. Conidia solitary, acropleurogenous, pale brown when young, brown to dark brown when mature, curve to semi-helicoid, variable in shape, oblong to cylindrical, (13–) 30–90 × 9–11 μm (x̅ = 42 × 9.7 μm, n = 40), or Dictyosporae-like, (20–) 30–45 × 12–18 μm (x̅ = 37 × 13.4 μm, n = 40), septate, slightly constricted at the septa, guttulate, palerat the apical cell, smooth, thick-walled.

Culture conditions: Colonies on PDA reached 35 mm diam. after 30 days of incubation at 25 ℃ and had a circular shape, with a raise surface, and entire margin. They are grey to pale brown in the PDA medium.
