Konta & K.D. Hyde (2023)
Classification:Ascomycota-Pezizomycotina-Sordariomycetes-Distoseptisporales-Distoseptisporaceae-Distoseptispora
Host species: Licuala glabra (Konta et al. 2023)
Holotype: MFLU 15-0014 (Konta et al. 2023)
Known distribution: Narathiwat, Thailand
IF Number: IF559680 Mycobank Number: 559680 FOF Number: FoF10826
Description
Saprobic on dead leaves of Licuala glabra. Sexual morph: Ascomata 250–300 μm long, 120–140 μm diam., solitary or gregarious, semi-immersed to superficial, not upright, laid on the substrate, perithecial, sub-globose to ellipsoidal, dark brown, ostiolate, with a short neck through host surface. Peridium 15–30 μm (x̄ = 21 μm, n = 10) wide, thick coriaceous, comprising brown cells of textura angularis. Paraphyses 2–6 μm (x̄ = 4 μm, n = 30) wide, long, cylindrical, septate, hyaline, smooth-walled. Asci 120–210 × 8–15 μm (x̅ = 158 × 11 μm, n = 25), 6–8-spored, cylindrical, with a short pedicel, obtuse at the apex, apex with a J- apical ring. Ascospores 20–30 × 5–10 μm (x̅ = 24 × 7 μm, n = 100), overlapping, uniseriate, inequilateral to fusiform, straight, rarely slightly curved, hyaline, aseptate, thin- and smooth-walled, guttulate, with a thick mucilaginous sheath. Asexual morph: Undetermined.
Culture conditions: Ascospore germinated on PDA, one germ tube produced from one end. Colonies from above; light grey, dense, raised at the center, wrinkled, covered with white aerial mycelium, becoming olive-green with fimbriate at the margin. Colonies from below; light-grey with collapsed at the middle, turning olive-green mycelia at the edge.
